Making your LinkedIn profile stand out from the thousands of other LinkedIn profiles you are competing with is no easy task. Below are some tips you can keep in mind when developing your profile:
Experience.
Focus the content of each professional position on Achievements and Results, rather than on Functions and Responsibilities. You have to convey Value, that is, the result of your management. I want to know everything you can do for my company and, what better way to do it than by telling me what other companies have gained thanks to you.
Try to quantify these achievements. What are not accounts, are stories. We are in a professional network, and quantifying results is almost an obligation. If you cannot give absolute figures, resort to percentages.
Includes links to other Social Networks
Linkedin gives you the option to include up to three links to other platforms in your profile . Include links to other social networks. This way, you are letting people know that you take your 2.0 Identity seriously and, at the same time, you are giving rise to increasing your communities on those other networks. Include your professional website or blog in those links.
Linkedin Applications
Linkedin offers you up to 20 different website development service applications to differentiate your profile. You can upload documents in different formats:
Slideshare Presentation: Power Point documents
Box.net: pdf, doc, xls documents
WordPress: You can display the latest posts on your Profile
The positioning you need is that of an expert. Demonstrate, through the documents you “post” on your profile, your know-how, your professional “expertise”.
Recommendations
In Recommendations, it is not you, but third parties who speak well of you, and this is very important. The most valued are those from managers and clients, with those from peers or coworkers having less value.
Get at least 3 recommendations. This is one of the requirements for your profile to be 100% developed.
Position yourself as an expert
This is perhaps the only possible positioning if you want to be effective. Appearing as an Expert does not mean that you are the best in your sector, but rather that if you have been working for years in Finance, HR, or Marketing and Sales, that is your specialization and, in this regard, you certainly have a lot to say and contribute.
Professional Title
When your LinkedIn profile appears in search results, the only valuable information we can see is the Professional Title . Don’t just state your Position and the Company you work for, introduce what you can contribute or what you are really good at. Saying “Sales Director at XYZCOM” is not the same as saying “Sales Director at XYZCOM, I provide high-level contacts for key clients and I can generate business from day one” or, this other: “Sales Director at XYZCOM, specialist in creating committed teams that generate results and business development”.
Don't leave any sections blank
A dramatic example is photography. It is incredible how many LinkedIn profiles there are without a photo. And that is another basic requirement for having a 100% developed profile. But the same thing happens with Detailed Experience and with the Summary and Specialties.
We are professionals competing with other professionals and, to get the most out of it, which is a lot, it is necessary to have a fully developed and Differentiated Profile, a Profile that transmits your professional Expertise, and your Positioning as an Expert. Linkedin is much more than an online CV. It is a Personal Marketing tool with which you can generate real professional opportunities. _________________ website development service |
